QUILTING & PATCHWORK WITH STACEY

Regular price £130.00
This class is designed for beginners and intermediate patchworkers and is kept small to ensure you get time with our tutor. Working at your own pace, this informal and supportive class will help you to build your patchwork skills. You’ll learn tips and techniques for accurate piecing, clever cutting and perfect pressing, working through a series of traditional quilt blocks or on your own pattern.
In the 6-week course you’ll try out various tools and techniques, and create a series of quilt blocks that you can turn into a table runner, a quilted cushion, a sampler quilt or even something larger. We will cover basic techniques, explore fun techniques to get the most out of your favourite fabrics, and look at important skills for quilting including borders and binding.
Sewing machines, cutting mats and rotary cutters are provided, although you’re welcome to bring any of your own tools that you’d like to use. In this course we’ll look at all the tools of the trade that will help you in your quilting journey, including square inch rulers, long rulers, rotary cutters, cutting mats, basting spray, and wonder clips. You may have some of these already, but we’ll show you the essentials and you can try them out in class to get a feel for them. We’ll also choose fabrics and start cutting out our fabrics to showcase personal, meaningful and beautiful fabrics.
This course is suitable for all levels of sewing experience, even complete beginners, and there’ll be plenty to keep more experienced sewers busy. You can bring your own fabric stash and favourite fabrics to use, or purchase discounted fabrics on the day from the incredible collection available at the Dressmakers Fabrics shop.
