QUILTING WORKSHOP WITH STACEY
INTRODUCTION TO QUILTING 6 WEEK COURSE
FRIDAYS - FEB 17th, 24th, MARCH 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th
Evening Course 6pm to 8pm
In this “Introduction to Quilting” course you’ll be making an heirloom postage stamp quilt to showcase your favourite fabrics. You can make it as big or as small as you like, and in six weeks’ time you’ll be ready to venture out into more challenging and exciting quilt designs.
In this course we’ll look at all the tools of the trade that will help you in your quilting journey, including square inch rulers, long rulers, rotary cutters, cutting mats, basting spray, and wonder clips. You may have some of these already, but we’ll show you the essentials and you can try them out in class to get a feel for them. We’ll also choose fabrics and start cutting out our postage stamp blocks to showcase personal, meaningful and beautiful fabrics.
You’ll learn tricks and tips for accurate piecing and some helpful shortcuts to speed up the piecing process, and you’ll also experiment with different quilting methods and tools, as well as practice different types of quilt binding so you can build your skill set and get ready for more projects.
This course is suitable for all levels of sewing experience, even complete beginners, and there’ll be plenty to keep more experienced sewers busy. You can bring your own fabric stash and favourite fabrics to use, or purchase discounted fabrics on the day from the incredible collection available at the Dressmakers Fabrics shop.
